Where the River Meets the Sound

Old Saybrook sits on the west side of the mouth of the Connecticut River, with Long Island Sound to the south and about 30 percent of the town covered by water. Many houses near the shore are used mostly in summer and go quiet from fall to spring, from the shingled homes of Fenwick to the beach streets at Cornfield Point and Chalker Beach, with more tucked along the coves at Saybrook Point and North Cove. About 22 percent of the town’s 5,870 housing units were vacant at the 2020 census, a count that includes seasonal homes.

Houses near the water take salt air, wind, and high tides, while those inland see wind, rain, and falling limbs. Our team opens and closes seasonal homes, makes home watch visits on a schedule through the off-season, and after a storm sends photos of the roof, siding, and drainage, so you know what the weather left behind.
